Clear light yellow oily solution.

Pharmacological Action

Estradiol is the most active endogenous estrogen and possesses the typical pharmacological characteristics of estrogenic drugs. Estradiol can promote the normal growth and development of sexual organs and secondary sexual characteristics of female animals. It causes cervical mucosa cell enlargement and secretion increase, vaginal mucosa thickening, promotes endometrial hyperplasia and increases uterine smooth muscle tension. Estradiol also has an effect on the skeletal system, increasing bone calcium salt deposition, accelerating bone sacral closure and bone formation, moderately promoting protein synthesis, and increasing water and sodium retention. In addition, estradiol can negatively regulate the release of gonadotropin from the anterior pituitary gland, thereby inhibiting lactation, ovulation and secretion of male hormones.

Indications

Sex hormone. It is often used for mismating and emergency contraception. Also used for the aphrodisiasis of animals with no obvious estrus, the retention of afterbirth and the discharge of stillbirth.

The usage of estradiol in dogs, cats include:

1.To avoid pregnancy after accidental mating.

2.Hormone replacement treatment on sterilized female dog, especially on dogs with urinary incontinence.

3.To promote estrus, treat anestrus.

Dosage and Administration

1. Without veterinary consultation,Please do not give medicine.

2. Estradiol dosage varies depending on the reason for use.

3. Duration of administration depends on the condition being treated, response to the medication, and whether any adverse symptoms occur. Always complete the prescription unless specified by your veterinarian. Even if your pet is feeling better, the entire treatment plan should be completed to prevent relapse.

4. For dog, it is used to avoid pregnancy after accidental mating. Common dose is 0.02-0.04 mg/kg,subcutaneous injection, single dose. Used from the 4th day of estrus to the 2nd day of metestrus, there will be some side effects when the dose is ≥100 μg/kg.

5. For cat, it is used to avoid pregnancy after accidental mating. Common dose is 0.125-0.25 mg/kg,subcutaneous injection. 6 days after mating, subcutaneous injection with 0.25mg/kg, single dose. 40 hours after mating, subcutaneous injection with 0.25mg for each cat.

Adverse Reactions

1. In small animals such as dogs, it can cause blood dyscrasia, mostly in elderly animals or large doses of application. Initially platelets and leukocytes increase, but gradually progress to platelets and leukocytes decrease. Severe cases can lead to aplastic anemia.

2.Occasionally, it can cause cystic endometrial hyperplasia and uterine pus storage.

Precautions

Animals in the early stages of pregnancy are prohibited, so as not to cause abortion or fetal deformity.
